Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What prerequisite skills does my child need?

A: Children should be able to communicate their needs, understand basic language concepts, follow simple directions and imitate motor actions. Children lacking these skills are eligible to apply for individual therapy.

Q: What is the teacher-student ratio?

A: The classroom will have a maximum of six children and minimum of two teachers. A certified special education teacher will run the classroom and two Board Certified Behavior Analysts will supervise the program and spend one morning each in the classroom.

Q: What will be taught?

A: The focus of the program will be on developing academic skills including reading, writing, mathematics, and basic science, although language and social skills will also be addressed. Children needing intensive social skills training should also participate in a social skills group.

Q: How will skills be taught?

A: Skills will be taught individually and in small groups. Children will be taught important classroom skills including raising a hand to get assistance/answer a question, answering questions during group lessons, and following group directions. Independent work skills will also be taught through PSI (personalized system of instruction.)

Q: When do classes meet?

A: Primary and kindergarten classes meet five half days a week, preschool meets three days per week for 2.5 hours/day.
